You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.

My Background

I began my career as a Professional Counsellor quite by accident. I had lived in Thompson, Manitoba, since I was four years old, grew up and experienced a slew of life lessons, was in my early 20s and becoming settled into adult life and responsibilities. I was employed at our local high school as an educational assistant. I liked my work and the environment of being around youth and was exploring what career direction I wanted to pursue. Then one day one of the vice-principals, who had also been my high school counsellor back in the day, asked me if I would be interested in being part of a team to develop an off-campus classroom and be the support worker for this classroom… and that was the start of my career.

I continued with my education to gain my Applied Counselling Certification. Over the past 25 years I have continued with my education and certifications. Combined with my extensive experience I have achieved  designations as a Registered Professional Counsellor and Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.

The Off-Campus Classroom opened the door for many professional opportunities and experiences. The ones I am most proud of include: Program Coordinator for Futures (a parenting program); co-facilitating the Men’s Domestic Violence 12-week court-mandated program; developing and delivering a two-day In-house Suspension program at Thompson’s high school; a six-session Intensive Supervision program for youth involved with probation services; and being a Residential and Intake Counsellor with Addictions Foundation Manitoba (AFM).

I never had—and still don’t have—the grand notion of changing the world. I absolutely love helping one kid, one adult, one family, one couple at a time to explore and achieve their definition of a balanced and successful life.
